The circular route through Glenan Wood is a cracker. It takes about 1 - 1.5 hours hours to complete the loop. Follow woodland and shore paths to Glenan Bay. It can be boggy underfoot and some clambering is required. Starting from the Glenan carpark, head across the grassy field and follow the path into the woods. At the junction, take the forest path and climb up until a view of the bay is revealed. Follow the path down until you reach another junction. Here, you can return via the bay and the shore. Glenan Bay is wild and rocky.
If you’re feeling fit, you can carry on up the forest path to an old deserted village. It's a haunting place that dates back to 1309.
